Florry the Lorry - Facebook Monday 20th February 2023

π We slept really well last night, despite being in a car park. It was so quiet and dark and only sounds of nature around us.
π After a fantastic sleep our friend came by to pick up the hat I made for her, it was time to go back to Na Macaret and Addaia (info under photos) to do a little exploring. In reality it wasn't exploring it was fun on the beach for the boys, Rolo & Barney.
π It's been such beautiful weather. Apparently it's changing over the next few days so we need to make the most of it before the rains come.
π We have moved on again to see friend who live here where we are parked in Son Parc. We met them through Florry as they started to follow our journeys. This is the reality of van life and nomadic living. We get to meet so many lovely people along the journey and make friends.
βOne of our friends today asked me "do you always move on so much because you have to" The question made me think. We do move about a lot and not because we have to but because I think the nomadic life and moving a lot is what we like so much about life on the road. We get to explore places and get to borrow gardens and we actually like the change. We've always had itchy feet and I love having different views every few days, even if we've seen them before. This is why we can't imagine living in bricks and mortar. Maybe one day we will but for now we like the freedom we have to move or not move and to make our minds up on the day where we will go next and depending on weather we will choose different places. For us it feels liberating and free to have these choices to be able to move about so often.
βAny one else have itchy feet
β£οΈHope everyone has had a lovely day, virtual hugs, Cat, Chris & Rolo ππΎππππβ€οΈπβ€οΈπβ€οΈ

Na Macaret is a quiet beautiful place where locals like to come. In this small cove, there are a couple of restaurant and little houses along side it. Right now it's all closed up for winter but still beautiful to go visit. Across the seas is Addaia

Addaia Port, taken last year

Love this little house in Na Macaret

Boys will be boys

The sea was so clear but didn't swim today.

Reflections of the mirror fishing village Na Macaret

Torre de Addaia. This tower was built by the English around the year 1800, under the direction of the British Captain d'Arcy.
Its shape is frustoconical, almost cylindrical, and it is built with stone and mortar, having the external parameter reinforced. Its height up to the terrace is 8.25 m.
According to its original plans, "the tower was built for a revolving cannon and a garrison of 18 men with spare parts and provisions for a month."
Its original structure had a ground floor, divided into two areas: one for a gunpowder store and another for a food and spare parts store; an intermediate floor, where the original access door was located, and the upper floor or terrace. On the ground floor it had a cistern and an oven for "red bullet".
It was restored between 1973 and 1974, modifying some of its original parts, as well as its entrance door. It is also known as the Cala MolΓ tower
It is currently closed and has no use. Its state of conservation is good.
It can be easily accessed from the urbanization of "Port d'Addaia" to observe its exterior and the beautiful enclave in which it is located. It is privately owned. (Menorca.es 2023)
